Help the Ignored Victims of Sexual Violence

Setting up new Rape Crisis Centres in London

"I will provide stable, long-term funding to set up new Rape Crisis Centres in London."
Status Update: Delivered

As part of Mayor Boris Johnson’s long term plan to help victims of sexual violence, three new Rape Crisis Centres opened in London in 2010, making four in total based in North, South, East and West London (link). Boris has committed to provide funding for the three new centres and the existing Croydon centre if he is re-elected (link). 15,882 victims of sexual abuse were helped with support, counselling and therapies at these four rape crisis centres in 2010-2011 alone (link). Boris will continue to treat rape as a serious crime and ensure that rape victims are properly cared for in a safe environment.
