21 days

By Boris Johnson

There are just three weeks before Londoners head to the polls to choose their Mayor and the stakes in this election are high.

Over the last four years I’ve been getting on with my plan to turn things around because this is the most important job I’ll ever do. And on Tuesday, at the official launch of my campaign, I set out my vision for securing Greater London's future.

But there is more to do - I feel like a man who has built half a bridge. I can see the other side and what needs to be done.

And to build the rest of the bridge, I need your help. Supporters like you are the backbone of my campaign and your commitment is critical to getting out our message across the capital.

That is why today I am asking you to sign up as a volunteer, if you haven't done so already. With your help we can reach even more Londoners in these final three weeks.

Teams of volunteers are already working hard across London, leafleting stations, knocking on doors and phoning voters.

The Battle Bus will be continuing it's tour of the boroughs and our call centres will be open across London every afternoon and evening from now until May 3rd, so there is plenty to get stuck in to: www.backboris2012.com/events

The choice on 3rd May is very clear – between lurching back to the high-taxing, discredited and divisive approach of my predecessor, or going forward with four more years of sensible, responsible and cost-effective government in London.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the campaign.

Call for Boris!

By Kimberlee Ponson

We had a great turn out at last Thursday's BackBoris2012 phone canvassing session when Baroness Warsi, Co-Chair of the Conservative Party, joined us to make calls and thank volunteers for our efforts.

Everyone enjoyed talking to voters and hearing their thoughts on London. Most of the people I spoke with were supportive of the Mayor and pledged to vote on the 3rd of May to ensure he's re-elected.

Volunteering for the campaign is really exciting. But there is still a lot of work to be done, so every bit of help is needed. We must keep working hard with the phone calls and door to door canvassing so we can get the word out about what is at stake in this election. On the 3rd of May, every vote counts, so join us today.

Mayor to young Londoners: Join Team London!

Mayor of London Boris Johnson today called on the 2,000 London graduates of this summer's National Citizen Service (NCS) pilot scheme to join Team London and keep volunteering in their communities.

Through Team London NCS graduates have the chance to give back to their communities, while at the same time they develop skills that could help secure them future employment. Team London is the Mayor's ambitious programme to mobilse an army of volunteers to improve life across the capital and participants work across three key areas - reducing crime in the capital, increasing opportunities for young people and improving quality of life by cleaning and greening the city.

1,700+ volunteer for Mayor's mentor scheme

Over 1,700 volunteers have pledged to spend their spare time mentoring young black boys in need of strong positive role models through the Mayor’s £1.3 million Mentoring Programme.

This scheme, developed by the Mayor's Mentoring Ambassador and championed by football legend Ian Wright, is a key element of Team London, Boris’s ambitious vision to get more Londoners volunteering and to help tackle some of the city's social issues.

BackBoris telephone canvassing

Yesterday evening Boris Backers manned the phones at a canvassing session in central London to spread the word about Boris Johnson’s record as Mayor and to listen to the concerns of Londoners.

In two and a half hours, we made hundreds of calls. A large majority of respondents were very positive about Boris’s time in charge and keen to see it continue. We even had several requests from people keen to join the campaign as volunteers!
