Groundswell support for strike law change

Further support for Boris Johnson's call for a tougher strike law emerged today. Both The Times and the Evening Standard have now came out to back the Mayor. In today's leader, the Times (£) writes: "He [Boris Johnson] simply asks that a union ballot in an essential service confers legality on a strike only if 50 per cent of those sent a ballot participate in the vote. This modest idea surely deserves support."

UPDATE - Speaking in Parliament earlier today, Transport Secretary Phillip Hammond condemned as "highly irresponsible" the RMT's planned strikes.
