London Overground a hit with commuters

The London Overground - the old East London Line - which is being completely transformed into the city's first orbital railway, is a hit
with commuters, according to reports.

Having already hit the top of the country's league tables for punctuality, new figures released by TfL show that it is carrying almost three times as many people as the old line - up to 85,000 passengers a day, up from 30,000.

Campaigning in Harrow

What a great morning campaigning at Harrow-on-the-Hill Station where Boris Backers spread the message of Boris Johnson's successes to hundreds of commuters in North West London.

Handing out the ever-popular Oyster card holders, we drew lots of interest from commuters. People were impressed, not just by the striking design, but also by Boris's achievements - some of which are listed on the back - including securing Tube upgrades, cutting crime and freezing Council Tax.

Youth campaign picks up pace

With a hugely enjoyable and successful Campaign Day in Hammersmith under its belt, the Back Boris Youth Campaign is stepping up the pace.

On the 19th of June we will be holding five campaigning sessions in five different areas of London.

This combination of street stalls and leafleting we will see Boris Backers from across London speaking to residents about the Mayor's record in office and their concerns, while also handing out copies of the Record newspaper.

Camden Record

I’ve just received my copy of the Camden Record and I have to say, I didn’t realise that crime had fallen so much under Boris. And knowing there are more police on the streets has made me feel safer in my neighbourhood. It was also good to have the transport upgrades explained, telling me what is happening in my borough and on the services I use.

WEZ scrapping drives boost in business trade

Businesses today praised Mayor Boris Johnson after a boost in trade following his scrapping of the western extension of the congestion charge.

Small business owners in west London said trade was up after the zone was scrapped in December. Official TfL figures also revealed that the increase in traffic was less than expected, while removing the zone had had no 'discernible' effect on traffic pollution levels.

Lewisham Record

A copy of the Lewisham Boris Record came through my letterbox today. What a great way of finding out about the Mayor's achievements - I didn't realise he'd done so much. From freezing his share of council tax to putting more police on the streets, Boris's policies have had a really positive impact on me personally, as well as my local area.

Boris has news for you!

Millions of Londoners are today receiving their copies of the Boris Record detailing the Mayor's achievements in office.

The newspapers are tailored to each of the capital's boroughs and have been paid for by voluntary donations - not taxpayers' money.

They detail how Boris is leading the charge to improve local transport links, freezing his share of your council tax and how putting more police on the streets has led to fall in crime in your neighbourhoods.

Report from H'smith Campaign Day

Cracking day in Hammersmith today. I was one of the hundred or so young BackBoris campaigners who spent most of the day talking to more than a thousand residents. Great to see so many supporting Boris for scrapping the western extension of the c-charge. Many still amazed it was ever introduced - not a single person I spoke to ever wanted it. Also good to see that Boris's freezing of his share of council tax is helping so many families. Some good comments to pass back to campaign HQ as well.

They're back! Boris Oyster card holders return

Hundreds of commuters snapped up the new BackBoris2012 Oyster card holders at Clapham Junction station this morning.

The wallets, featuring the Mayor's distinctive silhouette, have proved popular with many people wanting extras for their friends, partners and colleagues - we even got requests for the BackBoris2012 t-shirts worn by the activists. Inside the holders, commuters found cards with QR codes which when scanned by their smartphones automatically open webpages detailing transport upgrades which Boris is delivering in their area.
