Investing in London's high streets

Boris Johnson was in Harrow, Hillingdon and Ealing today, speaking to local residents about his 9 point plan for a Greater London.

At the Harrow Skills Centre - a partnership between Harrow College and the Local Education Authority that provides vocation training for 14-19 year olds - Boris spoke about point 6 of his 9 point plan: pledging to invest £221 million to transform local high streets and support small businesses.

Why Polish Londoners should support Boris

As an economist, as well as a Polish Londoner, I believe that Boris is the only candidate who will take this city forward.

Poles who live in London - especially those who came here after 2004 - typically either own or are employed by small businesses. Needless to say, it is these types of businesses which are suffering the most from the protracted recession. It is precisely for that reason that it is so important that our Mayor prioritizes help for small businesses.

Croydon deserves a champion like Boris

There’s no escaping that Croydon has a much-maligned public image – from mocking quips in shows like Blackadder to the eponymous ‘Croydon Facelift’. It can be difficult to find the good in a town like ours and to find the energy required to tackle our issues. But tackle them Boris has.

Boris is ensuring that Croydon isn’t stuck in the past by spearheading a regeneration revolution. Under the Mayor the town has seen £400,000 worth of funds given to Wandle Park to make it better for residents. He’s also ensured that £516,000 has been given to New Addington to help the high street’s potential for growth and development.

Boris's vision drives Ealing forward

With the London Mayoral election less than six months away, I'm asking myself the big question: What is Boris doing for Ealing?

And I'm pleased to say he is making a difference here in this large diverse borough which stretches from Southall in the west through Northolt, Greenford, central and south Ealing to Acton in the east.

Boris delivers for Bexley

I have always been a Bexley boy – born and educated. And this year I have managed to get on the property ladder with my partner in the borough.

I work in London and so join the significant number of commuters who work hard in the city centre and return to our suburban surroundings in the evenings. One of my sisters still lives in the borough with her husband and young children and my mum has worked in Sidcup for over sixteen years.
