Grass roots sport receives £12mil boost

Boris announced today that more than £12million will be invested in grass roots sports projects across London to help ensure a strong sporting legacy in every corner of the capital. During his visit to a City Hall funded BMX project in Walthamstow, the Mayor spoke of his desire to build a lasting Olympic legacy by getting people out of their living rooms and into sport.
The funding means the Mayor has now hit his target of channeling £30million into sport by the 2012 Games a year ahead of schedule.
