Boris in Brent

What I like most about Boris is he delivers on his promises. I was delighted when he got rid of the bendy buses, especially on the 18 route, as they regularly created congestion. I can’t wait to see the new double decker that is being deployed shortly.

Heading in the right direction

I’ve lived in Stroud Green in Haringey for ten years now and I love it here.  Though one of the few downsides is the local council. For years has clobbered us with a hefty council tax bill, without much thought for value for money. And before Boris became mayor, the mayor’s share of council tax was going up and up.

So it has been a welcome relief that Boris has been able to put a stop to that - freezing his share for three years in a row.

WATCH: Bendy buses off London's roads

At just after midnight tonight, the bendy bus on route 207 from White City to Hayes by-pass will make it's final journey.

Introduced in June 2002 by Ken Livingstone, bendy buses were unsuitable for London's roads. Too often they were involved in dangerous accidents and it was too easy to avoid paying.

Click 'read more' to watch the video and find out more what Boris has delivered for London.

Keeping Sutton moving forward

Like many, I have kept a close eye on my spending over the last few difficult years. Boris freezing his share of the council tax in his four years as Mayor has been noticed and is very welcome

Just by cancelling the daily delivery of 40 copies of the Morning Star to City Hall, Boris saved several thousands of pounds each year; money that could be better used to make residents’ lives in Sutton just a little easier.

Boris stands up for Tower Hamlets

Boris Johnson brings hope and unity to London. I have an abiding memory of Boris cycling along Whitechapel Road to a meeting. People came out of shops and buses stopped as Londoners cheered on their Mayor. In contrast Ken Livingstone came to Tower Hamlets to play politics - campaigning for an Independent candidate opposing his own Labour Party in a divisive local election.

Boris has not once raised his share of council tax. Ken Livingstone raised council tax every one of his 8 years as Mayor - costing the average household in London £963.58. Livingstone also cynically promised fare reductions before elections, before hiking them afterwards.

Route 73 waves bye-bye bendy

43 more bendy buses have disappeared from London's streets as route number 73 waved bye-bye bendy on Friday.

The route now has brand new double-deckers, with half of the service run using hybrid buses.

Seven of the capital's 12 bendy bus routes have now been converted back to single and double deck buses and it is now only a matter of months before the last of the buses leave London as the remaining five routes will be converted to double deck buses by the end of the year.

Bye bye bendy, bye bye

Something has just disappeared from Stratford Broadway and in its place has come sense.

Yes, bendy buses have ceased to run the Number 25 route. I took my final bendy bus trip on the number 25 route on Friday night and it was a great feeling knowing these unsuitable beasts are being removed from the capital's streets!

As Mayor Boris Johnson said, "These writhing whales of the road have swung their hefty rear ends round our corners for the final time."

The 25 is the latest route to scrap the ghastly bendy with the rest set to be phased out in the coming months.
