9 point plan poster launch

Boris Johnson this weekend set out his nine point plan to secure a Greater London, in a speech on Saturday and then at the launch of the poster campaign on Sunday.

1,000 posters will go up across London - from Croydon to Enfield and Hillingdon to Havering. They detail Boris’s determination to end the waste and mismanagement of the previous Mayor to free up money to pay for a strong plan for London’s future.

Transport investment cannot be put at risk

Today, new official figures show that Tube reliability is at its highest performance levels in a decade. Passenger numbers are soaring on London Underground and average delays are at their lowest since 2003/04 according to the latest performance figures.

Such news shows that Boris Johnson’s investment in the Tube is working - delivering real benefits for Londoners, improving infrastructure and growing London’s economy.

Cycle hire scheme expands

With nearly 10 million hires since its launch 18 months ago, Boris Johnson’s popular Barclays Cycle Hire scheme is expanding and, as of 8 March, the iconic bikes will be available for the first time beyond central London.

2,300 more bikes and an extra 4,800 docking stations are currently being installed. The scheme will be available across the whole of Tower Hamlets as well as north Shoreditch in Hackney, Camden Town, Canary Wharf and Westfield White City.

Boris's budget passed - council tax cut

Mayor Boris Johnson’s budget for 2012/2013 was passed at its final vote earlier this afternoon. It was passed, including the unprecedented council tax cut, with nine votes in favour, despite all Labour Assembly Members refusing to support it.

This budget secures more for Londoners than ever before and shows the Mayor’s commitment to delivering value for money.

HS2 boost for London

Today, the construction of a high speed rail line between London and Birmingham got the go-ahead, creating new opportunities and bringing fresh investment to areas of west London.

The HS2 project was approved after negotiations between Mayor Boris Johnson and the Government resulted in the decision to build a 2.75-mile tunnel to reduce disruptions for local residents. The tunnel will run from Hammersmith & Fulham to Hillingdon, minimizing disruptions for residents between Old Oak Common and Ruislip.
