With the Mayor joining in as our guest quizmaster for a special round of trivia and facts about our capital, it was a Tuesday night well spent. Mayor cracks down on disruptive roadworks

Boris Johnson has launched a new front in his battle against disruptive roadworks - a dedicated website for reporting problem sites.

Making the announcement at Transport for London's (TfL) traffic nerve centre, Boris Johnson urged Londoners to name and shame the companies whose sites are unattended, cluttered or causing unnecessary delays. Londoners can use the new reporting system to tell TfL which sites need attention so they can take action with the relevant organisations to keep the capital moving.

The Mayor and TfL are setting out a new roadworks pledge outlining what standards Londoners should expect from roadworks sites and calling on borough highway authorities to do the same hold those who dig up roads on their streets fully to account.

TalkLondon - Sutton

Writing today on the City Hall blog, Mayor Boris Johnson invites Londoners to TalkLondon in Sutton tomorrow night to share their views on rebuilding community spirit, crime and the Met Police:

Just over a week ago, I was delighted to announce the appointment of Bernard Hogan-Howe as the new Metropolitan Police Commissioner.

Bernard has a fantastic track record in cracking down on crime, and I was particularly impressed by his promise to build a Met that criminals fear and the police are proud of.

He has also promised to make the Met more open and transparent, and to restore the public’s faith in the institution after a challenging summer.
