Mayor supports young Londoners with £50m fund

Mayor of London Boris Johnson has announced £13million to help young Londoners into work, education or training.

As part of a £50million package to boost opportunities for young people across the capital over the next four years, the new fund will include a focus on young people with learning disabilities and those at risk of dropping out of school or college, to help them into work or develop skills.

Thousands of students sign up to Back Boris

The number of students who have signed up to help Boris Johnson get a second term as Mayor of London has smashed through the 2,000 mark.

Since we launched our BackBoris on Campus Freshers Fairs campaign last month, students across the capital have been flocking to our stalls to sign up to the campaign and back the Mayor's bid for re-election.

Activists sign up in droves, merchandise flies off the shelves

Looking back on an exciting week in Manchester, there’s no doubting that the BackBoris 2012 stand was one of the most popular at Conference with hundreds of people, ranging from Cabinet Ministers to councillors, visiting the stand each day.

The stand’s sign up and vox pop areas were flat out throughout the week, with queues often forming for both. Over the four days hundreds of people signed up to help the campaign as volunteers, make calls from home and support the Mayor and dozens of delegates recorded messages saying why they’re backing Boris.

Conference telethon reaches 1000s of Londoners

There was a real buzz around the BackBoris stand in Manchester this week. Generating the greatest hum was the chatter of the hundreds of Conference attendees making calls for Boris.

We kicked off the massive two and a half day telethon on Monday morning and made over 2,000 calls per day. By the Prime Minister’s speech on Wednesday thousands of Londoners had let Boris know their top priorities for London.

A message from Boris

I’m about to go on stage to address the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester. In my speech I’ll be setting out my vision for London and talking about what we’ve achieved over the last three years – including cutting crime, investing in our transport system, and freezing council tax.

Conference - Day 2

Conference got off to a cracking start yesterday with a great day on the stand.

We had hundreds of new supporters sign up to Back Boris and the response to our stand has been incredible. Loads of t-shirts, bags, mugs and wristbands have been sold and the BackBoris2012 lanyards were the hottest ticket in town yesterday.
