Driving economic recovery in outer London

Plans to help boost economic recovery and job opportunities in outer London boroughs were unveiled by Boris Johnson today.
The plans are part of the Mayor's £50m Outer London Fund which aims to transform town centres and local communities in outer London, especially those which benefit less directly from the economic boom of the 2012 Olympic Games and Crossrail.

Boris chief of staff knighted

Congratulations to Boris Johnson's Chief of Staff, Edward Lister, who was today conferred a knighthood (Knights Bachelor) for services to local government in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.
Ed Lister led Wandsworth Council from 1992 until last month when he succeeded Sir Simon Milton, who sadly died in April, as chief of staff in City Hall.

Slam dunk for London 2012

Basketball's Olympic home has become the fifth venue - and fourth venue in the Park - to be finished ahead of next summer's Games.
The 12,000-seat Arena was finished in just 15 months - one of the quickest builds - and can be completely dismantled and reconstructed elsewhere, after the Games.

Boris joins Met on robbery crackdown raid

More than 1,500 police officers took part in a massive crackdown on robbery and buglary earlier this week.
Officers burst into dozens of houses across London at the start of a six-month long campaign, targeting 20 specific areas.
Boris Johnson accompanied officers on some of the raids, taking at least one suspect by surprise.

Boris Johnson was in Richmond last night meeting residents and promoting the borough's efforts to boost cycling ahead of next year's Olympics.

London Overground a hit with commuters

The London Overground - the old East London Line - which is being completely transformed into the city's first orbital railway, is a hit
with commuters, according to reports.
Having already hit the top of the country's league tables for punctuality, new figures released by TfL show that it is carrying almost three times as many people as the old line - up to 85,000 passengers a day, up from 30,000.

Campaigning in Harrow

What a great morning campaigning at Harrow-on-the-Hill Station where Boris Backers spread the message of Boris Johnson's successes to hundreds of commuters in North West London.
Handing out the ever-popular Oyster card holders, we drew lots of interest from commuters. People were impressed, not just by the striking design, but also by Boris's achievements - some of which are listed on the back - including securing Tube upgrades, cutting crime and freezing Council Tax.

Youth campaign picks up pace

With a hugely enjoyable and successful Campaign Day in Hammersmith under its belt, the Back Boris Youth Campaign is stepping up the pace.
On the 19th of June we will be holding five campaigning sessions in five different areas of London.
This combination of street stalls and leafleting we will see Boris Backers from across London speaking to residents about the Mayor's record in office and their concerns, while also handing out copies of the Record newspaper.

Camden Record

I’ve just received my copy of the Camden Record and I have to say, I didn’t realise that crime had fallen so much under Boris. And knowing there are more police on the streets has made me feel safer in my neighbourhood. It was also good to have the transport upgrades explained, telling me what is happening in my borough and on the services I use.
