BackBoris/CF telephone canvassing

Guest post from Peter Cuthbertson, London CF Phone Canvassing Coordinator

Earlier this week, Co-Chair of the Conservative Party Sayeeda Warsi joined London CF volunteers as they rang voters across the capital to hear their views on London and share Boris Johnson's proud record.

More than twenty young professionals, and students from UCL, Westminster and Kingston universities, joined the phonebank at CCHQ. Over pizza, wine and beer they contacted around 1,000 London voters. By the middle of the evening, we were running short of spare desks to work from!

This was the second of London CF’s regular phone canvassing sessions, aimed at keeping Ken Livingstone out of City Hall, and Boris Johnson in. Guest speakers confirmed for future sessions include Conservative Vice-Chairman Andrew Stephenson MP and Parliamentary Private Secretaries Eric Ollerenshaw MP and Nicky Morgan MP.

The next session will take place from 6.30pm on Monday 10th October. As election day approaches, London CF’s canvassing sessions will be weekly.

In the nine months up to last year’s General Election, London CF telephone canvassed fortnightly and then weekly with parliamentary candidates across the country, most of them now MPs. In these sessions hundreds of calls were made each evening to identify Conservative supporters. We now look forward to making the same impact on London’s Mayoral Election.
