Thousands of families to benefit from Mayor's literacy push
Boris Johnson today launched a new reading and literacy project recognising the critical role played by parents in children's education. The project will help children aged 3-5 years old who are struggling with their learning by giving families practical skills to support learning at home and school.
Joined by popstar and father Peter Andre, the Mayor launched the project, which aims to recruit 500 volunteers who will work with more than 2,000 families, at Botwell Green School in Hillingdon. Is it part of Team London, the Mayor's strategy to use volunteers and philanthropy to improve quality of live and provide opportunities.

Boris ‘warmly welcomes’ Government’s pledge on access for all to music education
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, this week welcomed the Government's pledge to ensure that young people from every background have access to quality music education in the Department of Education’s response to Darren Henley’s review into music in schools.
The Mayor has been campaigning on this issue since being elected and he has already introduced a number of initiatives through his 'Making Music Matter' scheme aimed at increasing access and participation to music for young Londoners.
